Job summary

City of Brookfield Water Pollution Control Center is seeking an Operator to monitor and control wastewater plant operations, perform preventative maintenance, and handle data entry and customer service. The role includes emergency response, on-call weekend/holiday rotations, and a 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

weekday shift. Training and career progression are available across Operator II, Operator I, and Training levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or better required; Associate's or BS preferred.
• Advanced Wastewater Operator license with multiple subclasses or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Minimum four years hands-on wastewater plant operator experience for Operator II.
• CDL endorsement (B, C, D, N) may be obtained during probation.
• Mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater plant equipment, processes, and SCADA systems.
• Identify abnormal parameters and implement corrective actions.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
• Collect samples and deliver to laboratory; record data and reports.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call rotations.
• Provide customer service and assist with data entry and reporting.
• Assist lift stations and sewer back-ups; snow removal as needed.
