Job summary

JBS in Ottumwa, Iowa is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety associate to support wastewater operations, data entry, and equipment monitoring. The role requires daily operation adjustments, lab assistance, and occasional forklift use, with a goal to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months.

The position involves data recording, housekeeping, and occasional holiday coverage, with a schedule of 2:00 PM – Midnight across Saturday to Monday.

Qualifications

Previous experience helpful, but not required.
Mechanical skills are desirable.
Able to work unsupervised as required.
Able to climb stairs and maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

Working in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments, equipment operations and recording data.
Monitoring operating equipment & report any equipment problems.
Help with lab testing
Data entry of environmental data
Operate sludge press
General Housekeeping of Waste Water Plant area as needed
Must be able to operate forklift as needed
Cover co-worker vacations as needed
Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-workers)
