Job summary

JBS in Ottumwa is seeking a 2nd Waste Water Technician to operate and adjust equipment, record data, and assist with lab testing. The role requires obtaining an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months.

You will monitor equipment, perform data entry, run the sludge press, and maintain the wastewater plant area. The schedule is 12:00 PM to Midnight, Saturday through Monday, with benefits and a comprehensive healthcare package.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills.
• Previous experience helpful, but not required.
• Mechanical skills
• General Math Skills
• Working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for data entry
• Self-Motivator
• Able to work unsupervised as required
• Able to work outside year round as needed
• Able to climb stairs
• Good attendance record (Less than 3.0 points, for internal candidates)

Responsibilities

• Operating in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments, equipment operations and recording data.
• Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months.
• Monitoring operating equipment & report any equipment problems.
• Recording equipment data.
• Help with lab testing.
• Data entry of environmental data.
• Operate sludge press.
• General Housekeeping of Waste Water Plant area as is needed.
• Must be able to operate forklift as needed.
• Cover co-worker vacations as needed.
• Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-workers)
