Job summary

The City of Gresham is seeking a full-time Public Utility Worker (PUW 2) in the Wastewater Division. The role involves sewer cleaning, CCTV inspections, and maintenance of over 300 miles of sanitary sewer within city limits.

You will work with heavy equipment, enter confined spaces, and support inspections and emergencies as needed. Ideal candidates have strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork skills, and can communicate courteously with the public.

Qualifications

• Experience with wastewater systems and field maintenance preferred.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in teams.

Responsibilities

• Sewer line cleaning through inspection and debris removal in wastewater collection systems.
• Conduct CCTV inspections of lines and manholes, logging data in asset management systems.
• Perform construction repairs and maintenance to wastewater facilities using power equipment.
• Locate utilities using GIS, TV reports, and the Oregon 811 program.
• Assist with investigations and troubleshooting of blockages or failures.
• Inspect offroad manholes and participate in confined-space entries as required.
• Implement traffic control plans and use flaggers as needed.
• Provide general labor support with hand and power tools and heavy equipment.
• Respond to spills and illicit discharges impacting public health and safety.
