Job summary

The City of Gresham is seeking a full-time Public Utility Worker (PUW 2) in the Wastewater Division to maintain and inspect over 300 miles of sanitary sewer within city limits. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and proactive problem solving in a fast-paced public works environment.

Responsibilities include sewer line cleaning, CCTV inspections, maintenance and repairs, utility locates, and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• 1–4 years related full-time work experience.
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid within 12 months

Responsibilities

• Sewer line cleaning: inspect, clean, remove debris from wastewater lines and record data.
• CCTV inspections: inspect lines and manholes, coordinate with homeowners and inspectors, input data.
• Construction repairs: perform maintenance using power tools and heavy equipment, prevent overflows.
• Utility locates: use GIS/811 data to locate mains and laterals.
• Investigations: use Vac truck and cameras to identify causes of blockages or failures.
• Offroad manhole inspections: locate and inspect assets using GIS/GPS tools.
• Confined space entry where required and implement traffic control plans.
• General labor and support across projects.
• Respond to spills and illicit discharges affecting public health.
• Communicate effectively with City staff and the public.
