Job summary

Johnson County Government invites applications for a Maintenance Specialist with Johnson County Wastewater. The role supports operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility and off-site pump stations, including electrical maintenance and on-call duties.

The position requires a high school diploma, 1 year of mechanical/maintenance experience, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred are HVAC/plumbing/electrical certifications and an associate’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in mechanical, maintenance, or vocational trade.
• Driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Preferred: Vo-Tech training or certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related field.
• Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Math, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment and documents plant and pump station processes.
• Performs laboratory analysis for regulatory compliance.
• Assists in preventive and general maintenance of pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment.
• Maintains operational and maintenance records and logs.
• Interacts with haulers, drivers, vendors, and the public; handles routine inquiries.
