Job summary

City of Kinston invites applications for a Wastewater Maintenance Technician role. You will perform maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing systems in sewer lift stations and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and record-keeping. The position requires safety-first work, ability to operate SCADA interfaces, and after-hours readiness in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and plumbing components in pumping stations.
• Safety hazards including confined spaces, bloodborne pathogens, and lockout/tagout.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, logs and flow charts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair sewer lift equipment including pumps and controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance and monitor SCADA data.
• Inspect and repair pumps, motors, valves, piping, and electrical components.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and document work.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and PPE usage.
