Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Whitehall, MI, on-site, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer focused on wastewater and stormwater operations, reporting and compliance. This role is a key member of the location’s EHS Team, driving safety and environmental performance across the plant.

The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting ambitious sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• 3 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Experience with supporting health and safety programs.
• Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a culture aligned with Howmet’s EHS goals and continuous improvements.
• Manage, direct, coach, lead and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals safely.
• Assist in development and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs to achieve and exceed compliance.
• Manage environmental issues, regulatory reports and permits for Air, Wastewater, Storm Water, Chemical, and Waste Disposal/Recycling.
• Drive environmental stewardship through management systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Lead environmental permit review requirements to maintain compliance and interface with regulators.
• Maintain all records and documents as necessary.
• Evaluate production and equipment changes to sustain environmental requirements.
• Develop and deliver EHS compliance training.
• Lead cross functional teams to implement environmental improvement projects with no adverse risk.
• Evaluate processes to optimize waste and minimize water usage.
• Lead contractor management of the wastewater treatment and discharge program.
