Job summary

Hoyle Tanner in Massachusetts is seeking a Wastewater Project Manager to lead study, design, and construction of municipal, educational, and industrial wastewater projects from start to finish in Chelmsford.

You will drive project budgets, schedules, and resource planning, mentor staff, and expand Hoyle Tanner's wastewater practice across the state through strong client relationships and business development efforts.

Qualifications

• BS or MS/ME in Civil Engineering with Sanitary or Environmental focus.
• 20+ years of progressive experience in wastewater projects (treatment, collection, conveyance).
• Professional Engineering License in MA, with ability to obtain in NH/ME/VT.
• Strong communication, project finances, scheduling, and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage study, design, and construction phases for wastewater projects such as treatment plant upgrades and process improvements.
• Drive strong financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Provide exceptional client service by addressing regulatory concerns and operational challenges.
• Build, lead, and coordinate Massachusetts-based wastewater team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Oversee treatment, solids handling, and hydraulic capacity improvements in design elements.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Lead business development efforts in Massachusetts, including municipalities and utilities, with fee proposals.
• Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies through all phases.
• Implement quality management plans for wastewater design and documentation.
