Job summary

The Lake County Department of Utilities is seeking a Wastewater Preventative Maintenance Technician in Painesville, OH. The role involves repair, inspection and maintenance of buildings and process equipment at the wastewater treatment plant.

Essential duties include inventory tracking, routine maintenance, equipment servicing, and operating light machinery. Overtime, weekends and holidays may be required; strong communication with staff and public officials is important for success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Ohio Driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Drug screening required.
• Experience with routine plant equipment maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track and log inventory, order supplies, organize spare parts and equipment, data entry.
• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance to prevent failures.
• Clean, lubricate, oil changes, adjustments, repairs, inspections and replacements on equipment and machinery.
• Operate light equipment including tractors, lawnmowers, pumps, and equipment transport vehicles.
• General grounds maintenance including mowing lawn, trimming shrubs, edging sidewalks and driveways, snow removal, and painting.
• OT/weekend/holiday work as required.

A valid Ohio Driver's license with a safe driving record and a drug screening are required. Familiarity with basic maintenance and operational tasks involving manual labor, preventative care, general repairs, maintaining records, and utilizing tools and equipment to make and/or modify parts or equivalent is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Candidates for this position should possess experience in routine plant equipment maintenance, equipment lubrication schedules, asset management in a factory/industrial setting, and techniques to proactively avoid unplanned equipment downtime. Familiarity with wastewater treatment is preferable. Familiarity with electronic work orders for maintenance. Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to have effective working relationships with fellow coworkers, public officials, the general public, contractors, consultants and customers is preferred.
