Job summary

The City of Pueblo is seeking a Pretreatment Technician to collect and analyze wastewater, water, groundwater, river and industrial samples and to conduct field inspections of industrial facilities. This role supports the Pretreatment Manager and the Water Reclamation Facility in regulatory compliance and data tracking.

Responsibilities include collecting samples, performing field tests, and maintaining databases and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or related natural science.
1 year of pretreatment, wastewater/water operations, or environmental regulations experience.
An associate degree with related coursework may substitute for a bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience.
One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Inspects industrial and commercial facilities to characterize activities and waste streams contributing pollutants to POTW.
Reviews compliance reports and follows up with verification for sector control programs.
Collects water, wastewater, groundwater, river, and industrial samples; conducts field tests (pH, DO, ORP, conductivity, temperature).
Maintains computerized databases, files, and paper records.
Assists in identifying sources of substances found in wastewater and provides information on regulations.
