Job summary

The City of Pueblo is seeking a Pretreatment Technician to collect wastewater and water samples, conduct field inspections of industrial facilities, and support the pretreatment program with data input and reporting.

In this non-exempt role, you will monitor compliance, assist the Pretreatment Manager, and perform routine tests and data management while upholding safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or other natural science.
• One year of experience in pretreatment, wastewater/water operations, or environmental regulations.
• An associate degree with coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or other natural science and three years of related experience may be considered in place of a bachelor’s degree.
• One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Inspects industrial and commercial facilities to characterize activities and waste streams.
• Reviews compliance reports and verifies information for sector control programs.
• Maintains databases, computer files, and paper records related to the pretreatment program.
• Performs field tests for pH, DO, ORP, conductivity, and temperature.
• Collects water, sewage, sludge, and industrial waste samples and documents findings.
