Job summary

City of Cincinnati, Sewer Department is seeking an experienced senior plant operator to lead wastewater treatment plant operations, supervise technical staff, and ensure reliable plant performance and regulatory compliance.

You will monitor budgets, coordinate maintenance, prepare management reports, and communicate with contractors and the public. Strong leadership, budgeting, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a Plant Operator 2 with the City of Cincinnati in the Metropolitan Sewer District.
• Ohio Class III Wastewater Treatment Operator license or higher.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise wastewater treatment plant services and activities; assign work activities and monitor schedules.
• Monitor budgets and expenditures; prepare regular budgets as assigned.
• Develop goals, objectives and policies; implement resulting procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve wastewater treatment services and implement improvements.
• Prepare reports for management; respond to information requests from contractors and the public.
• Oversee personnel matters including training, grievances, time sheets and leave requests.
• Develop monthly reports to be delivered to the State of Ohio.
• Administer the wastewater treatment plant; oversee equipment and operations.
• Write purchase orders and requisitions for equipment and supplies.
