Job summary

Delaware County, Ohio is seeking a Wastewater Operations Manager to lead regional wastewater facilities, ensure safe and reliable service, and guide a dedicated team through growth and compliance challenges.

The role requires a Class III operator certification (Class IV within 36 months) and a strong background in lab safety, reporting, and maintenance planning. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related field; or high school diploma plus 5 years in wastewater; or 9 years of directly relevant work experience.
• Ohio EPA Class III Wastewater Operator certificate required; Class IV within 36 months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; all licenses/certifications maintained as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and ensures efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facility.
• Supervises staff involved with wastewater treatment programs and training employees.
• Analyzes and implements operational changes for efficiency.
• Inspects maintenance needs and prioritizes work orders in the facility’s system.
• Manages the laboratory operations and ensures laboratory safety and QA/QC per regulations.
• Prepares and reviews reports for Ohio EPA and Operations Superintendent.
