Job summary

NCRWA is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Specialist I to operate, monitor, and maintain the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant in Durham County. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, process optimization, and safe operation of treatment equipment with rotating shifts.

The incumbent will perform lab testing, collect samples, and document processes while maintaining accurate records. A NC driver’s license and a Grade I operator certification are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to monitor SCADA and plant operations.
• Experience with wastewater testing and sample collection.
• Understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; NC driver’s license.
• Grade I NC Biological Water Pollution Control Operator certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor wastewater treatment plant operations through direct observation and SCADA systems.
• Assist with operating, adjusting, and maintaining equipment at the plant.
• Adjust valves, gates, and pumps to regulate flow.
• Collect sewage samples and perform laboratory process control testing.
• Maintain logs and records; document maintenance activities.
• Perform minor predictive and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
