Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a skilled Wastewater Maintenance Technician to join the County Engineering department. The role performs maintenance and repair of equipment at the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant, serves lift stations, and participates in on-call rotations to ensure reliable service.

Reqs include a high school diploma, 3 years of municipal or industrial maintenance, and a valid NC driver's license; preferred MT1 and WPCSOCC certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years municipal wastewater or industrial maintenance experience.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license with three-year driving history required.
• Preferred certifications in MT1 and WPCSOCC collections/biological operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe workplace and follows safety protocols.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and lift stations.
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, and telemetry equipment.
• Monitors lift stations and responds to spills and emergencies.
• Maintains work orders and equipment logs.
