Job summary

Veolia Environnement is seeking a wastewater treatment plant operator to operate and maintain primary and secondary treatment processes, sludge handling, and related equipment at our Wyandotte facility. You will monitor controls, read gauges, perform routine maintenance, and support safety and quality goals.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 0–2 years in water or wastewater, ability to read/write English, basic math, and a Michigan Class D certificate or progress toward one;

Qualifications

• Must read, write and understand English for safety, operations, and quality procedures.
• Must perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
• Must learn and operate plant equipment independently to meet processing and quality targets.
• Must learn to operate pumps, centrifuges, valves, mixers, conveyors and related process equipment.
• Must be able to use computer programs for process control and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant processes including primary and secondary treatment, sludge handling, and belt press/centrifuge systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Read gauges and log readings; submit work orders for major repairs.
• Train and direct other operators as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the plant and grounds; support safety policies.
