Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, PA. This full-time, non-Civil Service role ensures safe, compliant wastewater operations and protection of public health and the environment.

Operate a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) unit, perform maintenance, run lab tests, keep accurate records, and ensure regulatory compliance. Certification and a CDL are required or pursued within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee program or equivalent.
• Certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator by PA State Board for any class and type.
• Active PA non-commercial Class C driver's license (or equivalent).
• Ability to obtain Class B CDL within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems including SBR and lift stations.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, motors, filters and related equipment.
• Conduct water quality tests and record results for regulatory compliance.
• Track daily flows, document activities, and update logs and reports.
• Follow environmental rules, safety guidelines, and permit requirements.
• Support storm operations and respond to system emergencies.
