Job summary

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort seeks a Water & Wastewater Plant Operator to ensure safe, reliable water and wastewater operations across its luxury property. You will operate treatment systems, monitor quality, and perform testing and maintenance to support continuous, compliant infrastructure.

Qualified candidates will hold a Class C (or higher) license and demonstrate the ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends, with strong safety awareness and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Current Class C or higher Water/Wastewater license with appropriate subclasses.
• Working knowledge of water and wastewater plant operations, including treatment, sampling, testing, equipment maintenance, and emergency response
• Ability to speak English
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and respond to 24-hour emergency calls when required
• Ability to wear a respirator and/or SCBA when required

Responsibilities

• Operate treatment systems, valves, pumps, controls and chemical applications to maintain optimum water quality.
• Perform prescribed testing and sampling, interpret results and adjust chemical dosages.
• Monitor wastewater flow, gauges and control panels for effective treatment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
• Follow safety practices and respond to emergencies as required.
• Maintain accurate operational and regulatory records.

Job description

Critical water and wastewater systems quietly support every corner of Nemacolin, from guest accommodations and culinary operations to the resort’s broader infrastructure. As a Water & Wastewater Plant Operator, you help protect the reliability, safety, and quality of those systems through skilled plant operation, treatment, testing, maintenance, and chemical management. Your technical judgment and attention to changing system conditions help ensure essential infrastructure performs safely and consistently around the clock.

What You Will Create

• Safe, reliable water treatment by operating treatment systems, valves, pumps, controls, and chemical applications while monitoring water quality and adjusting processes to maintain optimum conditions
• Consistent treatment performance and regulatory readiness by conducting prescribed testing and sampling, interpreting results, adjusting chemical dosages, and maintaining accurate operational and compliance records
• Reliable wastewater operations by monitoring flow, gauges, control panels, and test results while managing the equipment and processes that support effective treatment, filtration, aeration, settling, and sludge management
• Operationally sound plants and equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs, equipment replacement, and hands-on care of pumps, filters, controls, generators, buildings, and related infrastructure
• A responsive operation capable of adapting to changing conditions by monitoring system performance, adjusting manual and remote controls, identifying developing issues, and responding to equipment or building emergencies when needed
• A safe, organized, and properly supplied operation by managing work orders, materials, treatment chemicals, equipment, and required resources while following established safety practices for hazardous materials

• A technical, hands-on role supporting critical water and wastewater infrastructure across a large luxury resort property
• A work environment that balances routine monitoring and testing with troubleshooting, maintenance, and unexpected system demands
• Regular interaction with treatment equipment, chemical feed systems, pumps, filters, control panels, generators, wells, flow controls, and water quality analyzers
• Responsibility for collecting and interpreting operational and water quality data and maintaining accurate plant records
• Work involving potentially hazardous chemicals, including chlorine and sodium hydroxide, with respirator or SCBA use when required
• A physically demanding environment that may involve operating large valves, handling pressurized fire hose, performing equipment maintenance, and responding to emergencies
• A flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and 24-hour emergency response when operational needs require

• The ability to work independently while communicating effectively and building productive relationships with coworkers and other resort teams
• Composure and focus when responding to equipment issues, emergencies, or changing operational demands
• A willingness to perform hands-on, physically demanding work and remain engaged with the operation throughout the shift

Qualifications

• Current Class C or higher Water/Wastewater license with appropriate subclasses
• High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Working knowledge of water and wastewater plant operations, including treatment, sampling, testing, equipment maintenance, and emergency response
• Ability to speak English
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and respond to 24-hour emergency calls when required
• Ability to lift, drag, and maneuver a fire hose 50–200 feet long under pressures of up to 60 PSI and operate 4-inch to 12-inch valves
• Ability to wear a respirator and/or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) when required
• Ability to meet the physical demands associated with plant operations, equipment maintenance, sampling, testing, and emergency response
