Job summary

The City of Grand Junction is seeking a Plant Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain water and wastewater facilities and equipment. The role may involve welding, PLC programming, calibration, and preventative maintenance to support operations.

Compensation is a competitive hourly wage ($30.23–$34.02) with benefits. The position is safety-sensitive and may require a drug screen; a Colorado driver’s license (or ability to obtain) is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; specialized training in mechanical maintenance is a plus.
• 4+ years of plant maintenance/repair experience.
• Ability to obtain Colorado driver’s license; CDL/Water/Wastewater certs may be required.
• Must be able to perform welding, calibration, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on water and wastewater treatment plants and related equipment.
• Install, test, calibrate, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
