Job summary

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic role at American Water Works Association requires hands-on maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a wastewater treatment setting. You will develop and implement preventative maintenance plans, diagnose issues, and perform repairs on pumps, motors, valves, piping, and instrument control systems.

You must be capable of independent planning, reading manuals and drawings, and maintaining detailed records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years journey-level experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair.
• Experience with wastewater plant equipment is desirable.
• Knowledge of welding practices and safety standards.
• Ability to plan, diagnose, and repair a range of plant systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, maintain, repair and install mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair pumps, motors, valves, piping and other components.
• Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Calibrate and test control instrumentation and safety systems.
• Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
• Coordinate with supervisors and staff; may supervise project work.
