Job summary

The City of Caldwell Wastewater Department is looking for an entry-level Wastewater Operator I to join our team. The position performs general labor and semi-skilled tasks related to operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment at facilities, and may operate heavy equipment under supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting in treatment plant processes, cross-training with collection system operators, monitoring equipment, and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• At least one year of training and/or entry-level experience performing general labor, semi-skilled and skilled tasks in maintenance or use of equipment.
• Must complete Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator License within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks related to operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater equipment.
• Operate light to heavy equipment as needed and assist in plant processes.
• Document findings in logs and monitor SCADA systems where applicable.
• Cross train with collection system operators and respond to on-call duties.
• Follow safety rules and comply with state, federal, and local regulations.
