Job summary

The City of Idaho Falls is seeking motivated individuals to join our Wastewater Treatment team as Wastewater Treatment Operators (OIT, I, II, III). This role supports public health and environmental protection by operating and maintaining the treatment plant, monitoring processes, and ensuring reliable wastewater processing.

Placement within levels depends on certifications and experience, with each level carrying its own pay range.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No experience required for Operator-In-Training level.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment, machinery operation, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; able to use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant processes to ensure safe, reliable wastewater processing.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
• Collect samples for laboratory testing and monitor process parameters.
• Assist with snow removal and grounds upkeep as needed.
• Work rotating shifts, including midnights, per residency and scheduling requirements.
