Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operator in Illinois to perform day-to-day operations and maintenance of wastewater infrastructure, including SBR treatment facilities and lift stations. You will collect samples, record data, and support EH&S requirements in a team-oriented environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and less than 2 years of relevant experience; you must be safety-conscious and able to work on weekends/on-call. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High reading, math, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges and panels.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand/execute written and oral instructions; read and follow procedures.
• Team player with safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic operational and maintenance tasks for water/wastewater facilities to ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Routine cleaning and housekeeping in work areas; includes painting and equipment cleaning.
• Understand and carry out written or verbal work orders.
• Collect water quality samples, test them and maintain records.
• Learn and use CMMS to schedule and complete work orders.
• Work weekends/holidays/on-call on a rotating schedule; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Complete and maintain operational and maintenance documents and records.
