Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Wastewater Technician at our Ohio West Area Campus near Cincinnati to safely oversee the wastewater system and assist with odor control at the landfill, while operating site equipment.

The role requires 1–2 years of related experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to learn EPA regulations and landfill compliance. You will perform maintenance, monitor storm water controls, and support daily landfill operations in a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a related work environment preferred.
• 1–2 years experience welding HDPE pipe preferred.
• Ability to learn and apply EPA regulations and landfill compliance requirements.
• Ability to operate equipment in the trash disposal area as needed.
• Must be dependable, a self-starter and able to perform daily operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the landfill to meet requirements for EPA inspections.
• Set up and maintain portable pumps for leachate and storm water control.
• Perform preventive and routine maintenance on diesel and gas engine pumps and equipment.
• Monitor storm water pumping to maintain stream clarity and regulatory compliance.
• Manage odor control and wastewater system operations around the site.
• Observe wastewater system and adjust as necessary to maximize throughput.
