The candidate will plan schedules, review procedures, and assist in budgeting and training programs, with a focus on safety and compliance. This is a Tier I level Civil Service role with competitive benefits and a criminal background check requirement.

Qualifications

• Requires ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices in a technical field.
• An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration is required.
• Six (6) years of experience closely related to the activities of the branch or division are required.
• Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
• Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage Public Works wastewater maintenance and repairs and staff.
• Plan and organize schedules; direct and review wastewater activities for completion.
• Coordinate with other departments, outside agencies, committees, and civic associations.
• Review methods and procedures to maintain and improve efficiency; evaluate performance and implement improvements.
• Maintain knowledge of technology and legislative changes affecting activities.
• Implement and monitor technical and safety training.
• Assist annually in fiscal year budget preparation.
