Job summary

King County is seeking an Industrial Instrument Technician to support South Treatment plant and related facilities. You will work on SCADA programming, instrumentation, and control systems in a fast-paced industrial environment, collaborating with electricians and engineers to keep systems running smoothly.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and loop testing; you will also review drawings and assist in commissioning and spares planning.

Qualifications

• Three years of journey-level experience in industrial instrumentation or a related field.
• Knowledge of physics, chemistry, and mathematics applications relevant to process control.
• Experience with analyzers/sensors, control systems, PLCs, DCS/SCADA networking and interconnect protocols.
• Knowledge of PID loops and single loop controllers configuration.
• Ability to analyze industrial processes for design, modification, troubleshooting and repair of plant instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, modifications, upgrades, analysis, and diagnostics on DCS/SCADA/PLC systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and control systems.
• Collaborate with operations staff, engineers, and suppliers to explain processes and equipment needs.
• Inspect instrumentation installed by contractors and witness loop commissioning testing.
• Review and update drawings to conform with plant standards.
• Suggest spares and inventory requirements for instrument-related equipment.
