Job summary

The City of Oxnard is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Technician to join the Wastewater Division’s Maintenance team. You will maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, SCADA, PLC/HMI systems, and related electrical equipment at the city's wastewater facilities, reporting to the Wastewater Electrical Supervisor.

The role covers installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and project support. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years’ experience in electrical/instrumentation

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronics and instrumentation equipment in wastewater facilities (two years at journey-level).
  • Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • CWEA Grade I Electrical Instrumentation Technician Certification within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain process instrumentation (flow meters, pH, gas detection, etc.).
  • Maintain PLC/HMI/SCADA/telemetry systems for monitoring and control of processes.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnose and resolve instrumentation, automation, and communication failures affecting plant operations.
  • Coordinate with operations and contractors to support safe, efficient plant operation.
