Job summary
King County Wastewater Treatment Division is seeking an experienced Industrial Instrument/HVAC Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems across treatment facilities. You will support water-cooled chillers, HVAC controls, and field instrumentation with PLCs and SCADA in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include diagnosing control issues, modifying drawings, and coordinating with engineers and operations.
Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or college-level training in instrumentation or HVAC electronics.
- Experience with journey level industrial instrumentation and HVAC or electronics.
- Familiar with PID control loops and SCADA/PLC systems.
- Ability to read and modify electrical/hydraulic drawings.
- Willingness to work all shifts and comply with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC/R systems and water-cooled chillers.
- Install and service DCS/SCADA, PLCs, and control loops; apply PID strategies.
- Analyze processes, update drawings, and coordinate with operations and engineers.
- Assist in purchasing spares and inventory for HVAC/instrument equipment.
- Witness loop tests, inspect instrumentation and ensure plant standards compliance.
- Operate safely; lift up to 50 pounds; work in confined spaces and outdoors.
