Job summary

King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division seeks an Industrial Instrument Technician at the South Treatment Plant in Renton, WA. The role focuses on constructing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and conducting preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems, with emphasis on SCADA programming and DCS, to support safe, compliant, and reliable operations.

You will work with a team of instrument techs and electricians, participate in capital projects, and ensure compliance with safety

Qualifications

• Three years' journey-level instrumentation experience.
• Knowledge of PID control loops and sensors.
• Experience with SCADA/DCS, PLCs, and instrumentation installation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, upgrades, and diagnostics on DCS, SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and telemetry.
• Troubleshoot and calibrate electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation.
• Coordinate with operations, engineers, and suppliers to explain process requirements.
• Inspect instrumentation installed by contractors and witness loop-commission testing.
• Recommend spares and inventory for instrument equipment.
• Review shop drawings and process documentation to meet plant standards.
