Job summary

King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division seeks an experienced Industrial Instrument/HVAC Technician for the South Treatment Plant. The role covers HVAC, instrumentation, and control systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming across DCS/SCADA and PLCs.

Field work, safety, and collaboration with operations and engineers are essential components of daily duties. Candidate will handle complex systems, assist in design modifications, and ensure proper documentation and inventory for

Qualifications

Apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education and work experience in industrial instrumentation/HVAC.
Experience with HVAC/R systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
Proficiency with PID control loops and PLC/DCS environments.
Ability to work rotating shifts, travel within facilities, and perform field work.
Knowledge of safety and EPA guidelines for refrigerants.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, instrumentation, and control systems at Wastewater Treatment facilities.
Install and commission distributed and supervisory control systems (DCS/SCADA) and PLCs; adjust PID controllers.
Analyze processes and update drawings and documentation for new equipment.
Coordinate with operations, engineers, and vendors on equipment and procedures.
Advise on inventory and spare parts requirements for HVAC/instrumentation.
Witness loop testings and assist in commissioning activities.
