Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking personnel for Water/Wastewater Operations Maintenance within the Houston Public Works department. The position involves maintaining and operating water and wastewater facilities at multiple sites around Houston, TX, and performing field sampling and reporting tasks.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, at least 6 months of maintenance experience, and a valid Texas driver license.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma, GED, or the ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions.
• Six (6) months of general maintenance/work experience are required.
• Valid Texas Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving (AP 2-2).

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates the water and wastewater utility at various locations in Houston.
• Operates sampling instruments and performs field analysis of water samples.
• Collects, preserves, and transports samples to laboratory for analysis.
• Operates valves and hydrants to address water quality issues and maintains related records.
