Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Field Technician for wastewater sampling across multiple plants. You will operate autosamplers, maintain field equipment, and ensure samples are collected and transported for lab analysis.

The role involves physical exertion, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 80 pounds, with a schedule Mon–Fri 5:15am–1:45pm. A Texas driver license is required and this is an Emergency Management Tier I position.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and ability to read/write basic instructions.
• Six months of general maintenance or similar work experience.
• Valid Texas Driver License is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects and courier wastewater samples from autosamplers at multiple plants daily.
• Operates and maintains sampling equipment and related tools at various locations.
• Troubleshoots equipment failures and performs field analysis as needed.
• Prepares reports and documents for operations and service calls.
• Handles sample labeling, preserving bottles, and data tracking.
