Job summary

Houston Public Works is seeking skilled workers for the Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations team to perform repairs and maintenance on water distribution lines, meters, valves, and hydrants across multiple sites.

The role requires operating a range of equipment, adhering to safety rules, and coordinating with a lead worker. Candidates must have a high school diploma, a Texas driver’s license, and be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of manual/field work experience.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on assigned equipment.
• Hazmat license and CDL preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintenance of water distribution lines, service laterals, meters, valves, and fire hydrants.
• Provide mechanical service for water utility operations.
• Operate light, medium, and heavy equipment to support work locations.
• Prepare completed work orders and reports.
• Respond to public complaints and supervise team members and training.
