Job summary

Veolia North America, LLC is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform field service orders, collect water samples, and install, read, maintain and test customer service meters. You will assist with maintenance of mains and service lines and support T&D operations as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in water utilities, a valid driver’s license, and a water operator license or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Minimum of 2 years in the water utility business preferred.
• Excellent customer relation skills required.
• Ability to write accurately and possess good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills or ability to learn Google-based programs.
• Highly organized and able to work well under pressure.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic understanding of water distribution systems.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Class 1 or Class 2 water operator license required or ability to obtain licenses within a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Perform turn on/off, setting, reading, removing, repairing, testing and/or replacing residential water meters and recording data.
• Investigate billing complaints in the field by confirming readings and checking for leaks or main breaks.
• Monitor cross-connection control and/or locate service lines.
• Tag doors for termination of service to delinquent accounts.
• Perform routine valve box maintenance and ensure lids, valves, and boxes are clean and operational.
• Respond to customer inquiries.
• Assist with T&D Operations, setting up job sites with signage and traffic cones, and assisting contractors.
• Perform treatment operations, flushing hydrants; heavy lifting may be required.
• Rotating weekday and weekend on-call; overtime may be required.
• Sample collection and other duties requested by management.
• Mark outs for underground digging and locates.
• Assist with new main/service line installations and maintenance.
• Pumping facility checks and data entry; replenish chemical tanks as needed.
• Assist with SCADA/control equipment installation at new systems.
