Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a Wastewater Treatment - Field Service Technician I to perform field service orders, collect samples, install, read, and test water meters, and support maintenance of mains and service lines.

You will work in the field across Kentucky, respond to customer inquiries, and assist with SCADA-related installations and system checks. Overtime and on-call rotations apply; valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; 2 years in water utility preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and water operator license (Class 1 or 2) or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field service orders, collect water samples, install, read, maintain and test meters.
  • Investigate billing in the field, confirm readings, check for leaks or main breaks.
  • Monitor cross-connection control and locate service lines.
  • Tag doors for termination of service to delinquent accounts.
  • Perform routine valve box maintenance and ensure lids/valves are operational.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist with T&D operations as needed.
  • Set up job sites with signage and traffic cones; assist with water main repairs.
  • Perform treatment operations, flushing hydrants, and heavy lifting may be required.
  • Rotating weekday/weekend on-call; overtime may be required.
  • Sample collection and assist with system installations and maintenance.
  • Performs mark-outs for underground digging and locates.
  • Assist with field activities including main/service line installations and repairs.
  • Pumping facility checks, data entry, replenish chemical tanks as needed.
  • Assist with SCADA/control equipment installations at newly acquired systems.
  • Maintain yearly sampling program with manager; support pumping/treatment design.

Wastewater Treatment - Field Service Technician I

Position Purpose:

This position will perform field service orders as needed, collect water samples, install, reads, maintains and test customer service meters. This assist with field maintenance and repairs of mains and service lines as needed.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing turn on and/or off, setting, reading, removing, repairing, testing and/or replacing residential water meters and recording data.
  • Investigating billing complaints in the field by confirming readings and checking for leaks or main breaks.
  • Monitoring cross-connection control and/or locating service lines.
  • Tagging doors for termination of service to delinquent customer accounts.
  • Performing routine valve box maintenance, ensuring lids are present, valves are operational, and valve boxes are cleaned out.
  • Respond to customer inquiries.
  • Assist with T&D Operations as needed, setting up job sites with required signage and traffic cones, traffic control, water main repairs, and assisting Contractor with any other required work as needed.
  • Perform treatment operations, flushing hydrants, and heavy lifting may be required.
  • Rotating weekday and weekend on call required.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Sample collection.
  • And any other duties that may be required/requested by management.
  • Performs mark-outs for underground digging and locates.
  • Assists with all other field activities, as needed, such as new main and service line installations, repairs to mains and service lines and building construction and maintenance.
  • Performs pumping facility checks, when needed, including entering data, replenishing chemical tanks, etc.
  • Assist Manager with the installation of SCADA and control equipment at newly acquired systems.
  • Work with Manager and laboratory to remain compliant with yearly sampling program.
  • Work with Manager on the design of pumping and treatment equipment.
  • Must have the ability to perform field services at all times of the year even during inclement weather.

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the water utility business preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have excellent customer relation skills.
  • Must have the ability to write accurately and possess good communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills or ability to learn google based programs.
  • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of water distribution systems.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess Class 1 or Class 2 water operator license, or have the ability to obtain required water licenses within a reasonable length of time.
