Job summary

H 2 O is seeking a Construction Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater systems across Houston and surrounding sites. The role emphasizes safe practices, regulatory compliance, and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities include operating excavators and pumps, inspecting systems, and coordinating with engineers and managers to complete projects on schedule. A HS diploma and relevant certifications help applicants stand out.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification in wastewater management is preferred.
• Proficient in operating construction equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
• Valid driver's license; OSHA and confined space certifications are a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, pipelines, and infrastructure.
• Support construction of new wastewater facilities and expansions or modifications.
• Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and pumps.
• Conduct routine inspections and testing of wastewater systems for safety and regulatory compliance.
• Perform repairs on wastewater systems including pipe replacement and leak fixes.
• Prepare construction sites, excavate trenches, set up forms, and lay pipes.
• Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations on site.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technicians to meet timelines and budgets.
• Respond to emergencies such as pipe breaks or system malfunctions.
