Job summary

The City of Scottsdale is seeking a Wastewater Collections Manager to lead the operation and maintenance of the city’s wastewater systems, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainable performance.

You will guide a diverse team, implement innovative practices, and monitor advanced control systems to meet Local, State, and Federal requirements, with the anticipated salary at the mid-point of the range.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Water Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Management.
  • Five years of operation and maintenance of a large wastewater collection system and mechanical maintenance of large complex wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with advanced computerized systems utilized in the control and monitoring of collection systems and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Must have at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • Preferred: 5 years of Lead or Supervisory experience.

About The Position

This position manages the overall operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection system and wastewater treatment maintenance area to ensure all Local, State and Federal requirements are met. Responsible for the efficient, safe and economical operation of the collection system and mechanical maintenance of all wastewater treatment facilities.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $127,816.00/annually.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Water Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Management from an accredited educational institution.
  • Five years of operation and maintenance of a large wastewater collection system and mechanical maintenance of large complex wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with advanced computerized systems utilized in the control and monitoring of collection systems and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Must have at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • Preferred: 5 years of Lead or Supervisory experience.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain upon hire or promotion, a Grade 4 Certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in Wastewater Collection.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
