Job summary

City of Alabaster is seeking a Wastewater Collections Apprentice to assist with operation and maintenance of pump stations and sewer mains. The role supports uninterrupted sewer flow to the treatment plant and involves hands-on maintenance work in the city’s wastewater system.

Applicants must have a high school diploma and experience operating equipment; a valid Alabama driver’s license is required, with Wastewater Operator certification within one year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and experience in equipment operation required.
• Valid State driver’s license required.
• Certification: Alabama Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I or Grade IC within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance/repairs on pump stations, sewer mains, and manholes.
• Conduct drain and sewer camera inspections; log results and maintain records.
• Respond to citizen requests involving sewer problems.
• Operate equipment and use hand and power tools; identify maintenance needs.
