Job summary

The City of Santa Cruz is seeking a Wastewater Collection Manager to plan, direct, and optimize the activities, budget, fleet, and personnel within the Wastewater Collection and Flood Control Division of the Public Works Department.

The role oversees sanitary sewer collection and flood control infrastructure, ensures compliance with state and regional regulations, and collaborates with other city divisions, outside agencies, and consultants on CIP rehabilitation projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; six years of related experience, with three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Possession and continued maintenance of CWEA Grade III Wastewater Collection System Maintenance Certificate (required).

Responsibilities

• Directs the Wastewater Collection Division’s activities, operations, and budget.
• Oversees installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater collection and stormwater systems.
• Coordinates with Engineering, other City departments, agencies and contractors on CIP projects and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manages after-hours emergency response and staff scheduling for public works operations.
• Develops division performance goals, long-range planning, and reporting to the Wastewater Systems Manager.
