Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a wastewater technician for 2nd shift to run and maintain our wastewater system, ensure permit compliance, and document lab data. The role involves sampling, chemical dosing, and reporting while following Tyson policies and safety protocols.

The environment varies with seasons and requires physical effort. Qualifications include 6 months of wastewater or industrial maintenance experience and 3 months operator work within the last year.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 6 months of wastewater technical or industrial maintenance experience.
• Must have 3 months of operator experience within the last 12 months.
• Must be able to read, write, and complete Tyson documentation.
• Must have 3 months plant seniority and <5 attendance points.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedures to meet effluent permit limits while maintaining a safe work environment and Tyson policies.
• Operate and maintain wastewater systems.
• Monitor/maintain operation of wastewater system.
• Fill chemical tanks as needed.
• Test water and adjust chemical dosage to achieve required results.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Accurately record and file all lab data.
• Monitor/maintain the flow of water and regulate as needed.
• Take samples of wastewater and file paperwork for testing.
• Maintain stability of the wastewater system per ADEM/EPA requirements.
• Train on Lock out/Tag out and use PPE.
• Perform mathematical calculations and complete computerized reports.
• Work in cold/wet or hot/wet environments.

Job Details

Position responsibilities include:

• This position is responsible for following all procedures and guidelines to ensure that the effluent permit limits are met while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
• This position is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of wastewater systems.
• Monitor/maintain the operation of the wastewater system.
• Fill chemical tanks as needed.
• Perform test on water then adjust chemical dosage as needed to obtain required results.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Accurately record and file all lab data.
• Monitor/maintain the flow of water and regulate as needed.
• Take samples of wastewater and fill out appropriate paperwork to be sent off for testing.
• Maintain stability of the wastewater system as per ADEM/EPA requirements.
• This person must be trained on Lock out/Tag out and use Personal Protective Equipment.
• Requires performing mathematical calculations and completing computerized reports.
• This is a cold/wet environment during cold months and hot/wet environment during hot months.

Requirements:

• Must have at least 3 months plant seniority and less than 5 attendance points.
• Must have at least 6 months of wastewater technical or industrial maintenance experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and complete required Tyson documentation.
• Must have 3 months operator experience within the last 12 months listed on the application (can be a combination of employers as long as the experience is at least 3 months).
• You must have relevant work experience documented in the work history section of the application.
