Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. You will perform inspections, keep equipment in service, monitor waste quality, and document condition reports with a strong safety emphasis.

The role requires adherence to company policies, reliable time management, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions, with a motivation to prevent downtime and support efficient site operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• OSHA-regulated site experience is preferred for this role.
• Experience in the solid waste industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment.
• Safely operate heavy equipment (forklift, excavator, bulldozer, loader) following safety standards.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable material and ensure equipment readiness.
• Document minor equipment service and report larger repairs as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required paperwork; keep area clean.
