Job summary

Lakeshore Recycling Systems in Indianapolis is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee daily operations and safety for drivers and laborers. The role ensures efficient routing, staffing, and performance reporting within an environmentally responsible waste management framework.

You will lead safety initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure service excellence and compliance in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Operations Supervisor, preferably from the waste management, manufacturing or trucking/transportation Industry
• Must have a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or willing to obtain one (if supervising drivers)
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Must be a self-starter with a strong level of accountability
• Essential to be detailed oriented
• Upbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitude
• Must work well under pressure
• Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook Software Skills
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Experience with routine maintenance operations
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

• Oversee driver or laborer safety including safety training and incident reporting.
• Schedule shifts, plan for call-ins/no shows, and report department metrics and performance.
• Responsible for facility or route optimization and coverage at all times.
• Proactively evaluate and perform facility, area or route visits and assessments.
• Evaluate customer support and problem solving to find solutions to customer issues.
• Respond to unpredictable situations or problems throughout duties.
• Lead and supervise laborers or drivers within the assigned area and deliver feedback.
• Set a motivational tone and foster a positive work environment.
• Monitor performance and implement improvements to support departmental objectives.
