Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County is seeking an experienced administrator to plan, organize, and oversee daily operations of a public works area. You will establish policies, manage facility maintenance operations, and exercise independent judgment when policies are absent.

The role reports to the Superintendent and requires strong leadership and budgetary acumen. Essential qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience, CDL Class B with air

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and at least four years of experience in area of expertise.
Must have CDL Class B with air brakes and the ability to pass a pre-employment driving physical and drug test.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or more.
Strong office management experience; proficient with office software (Excel, Word).
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

Coordinates daily office functions.
Serves as administrative liaison between management and bargaining units.
Responds to customer/employee inquiries and/or complaints.
Maintains effectiveness and efficiency of operations and contracts.
Assists in tracking and maintaining a fleet of 80 trucks and vehicles.
Directs supervision of staff and staff development, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Assists with budget preparation, policy and goal setting for the garage.
