Job summary

The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) seeks a capable supervisor to oversee daily operations within the fleet and facilities area. You will organize, supervise staff, and coordinate office functions while aligning with city policies.

This role requires a high school diploma, four years' experience, CDL Class B, strong communication, and office management skills. You will help manage budgets, contracts, and ensure efficient service delivery for residents and city operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and at least four (4) years of experience in the area of expertise; supervisory experience preferred.
• A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B with air brakes) and ability to pass pre-employment driving physical, drug test.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily office functions.
• Serves as an administrative liaison between management and bargaining units.
• Responds to customer/employee inquiries and/or complaints.
• Maintains effectiveness and efficiency of operations and contracts.
• Assists in tracking and maintaining a fleet of 80 trucks and vehicles.
• Directs supervision of staff.
• Responsible for staff development, evaluations, and disciplinary actions of bargaining unit employees.
• Develops, implements and maintains procedures for the area to which assigned.
• Assist team with budget preparation, policy and goal setting for the garage.
• Tracks revenues and expenses and identify areas of increasing operational efficiency.
• Ensures adherence to policies and procedures for bi-weekly and weekly employees.
