Job summary

The City of Indianapolis and Marion County seeks aMaintenance Supervisor to lead crews responsible for bridges, drainage, patching, grading, and snow/ice control. The role requires strong supervisory and communication skills to ensure safety and efficiency in daily operations.

Responsibilities include planning routes, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and maintaining equipment. Candidates should have a high school diploma and prior crew supervision experience, with a preference for a CDL

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with four years' crew experience or two years' supervisory experience of six or more employees.
• Ability to delegate authority and responsibilities; communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Knowledge of road maintenance regulations and safety standards; basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
• Experience with payroll processing and timekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated area to monitor surface conditions and investigate complaints.
• Plan routes, assign duties, and review daily work of crew; verify completion.
• Maintain equipment and report to Superintendent; initiate material and equipment requests.
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and track timecards; discipline when needed.
• Ensure adherence to departmental policies and collective bargaining rules; maintain confidentiality.
