Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead a work shift in waste handling activities, ensure safety, and train staff. Duties include supervising personnel, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining compliance with permits and safety rules.

The role involves off-loading operations, sample collection, and decision-making on batch clearances, with a focus on safe, efficient plant operation and emergency response readiness.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste management.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the activities of operations personnel.
• Supervises inventory compliance and maintenance of supplies.
• Coordinates with vendors, transporters, and treatment facilities.
• Keeps waste handling/processing areas clean and properly stored.
• Directs off-loading operations for receipt of materials.
• Ensures safe, effective treatment of wastes via sample collection and analysis.
• Makes decisions aligned with waste profile data and permits.
• Determines batch clearance approvals for effluent filtering.
• Collects post-treatment samples to assess disposition readiness.
• Notifies maintenance needs for plant and transport equipment.
• Reviews and signs RCRA manifests.
• Ensures personnel follow safety rules and procedures.
• Trains personnel on processing procedures.
• Participates in emergency response at site and on/off-site.
• Directly supervises 2+ employees.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities per policies and laws.
• Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans and directs work.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
