The State of Indiana, through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), seeks a Section Chief for the Solid Waste Management Section to lead engineering, geology, and project management efforts. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team and coordinate cross‑disciplinary work to meet agency priorities and timelines.

Qualifications

• Thorough and extensive knowledge of Environmental Management and related areas.
• Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health regulations and requirements.
• Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations and policies.
• Ability to lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary team in a complex regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct long-range goals for the section; manage staff workload and budgets.
• Ensure technical reviews, permitting evaluations, and deliverables meet quality and regulatory timelines.
• Represent IDEM in meetings with external stakeholders and the public to explain goals and activities.
• Coach, onboard, evaluate, and develop staff to maintain high performance and compliance.
