The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is seeking a Section Chief for the Solid Waste Management Section in Indianapolis. This senior leadership role directs engineering, geology, and project management functions across a diverse team, ensuring timely, defensible deliverables and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include setting long-range goals, managing staff workload, and representing IDEM in meetings with regulators, consultants, and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field as listed.
• At least 7 years of professional environmental experience with 2+ years in administrative/leadership capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations related to program area.

Responsibilities

• Direct engineering, geology, and project management within the Solid Waste Management Section.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee technical reviews and permitting evaluations.
• Represent IDEM in meetings with regulated entities, consultants, local governments, and the public.
• Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality work and alignment with agency priorities.
