Job summary

GFL Industries is seeking a Helper to safely assist drivers and other employees in collecting solid waste from residential customers. You will help load, sort recyclables, and support the driver in safe vehicle operation. This role requires readiness for outdoor work, ability to lift up to 65 pounds, and strict adherence to safety rules.

High school diploma preferred; prior experience not required. Valid driver's license is not mandatory, yet helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions.
• Willingness to work outdoors and lift up to 65 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Collect waste/recyclables from customer premises or curbside.
• Load solid waste into the rear or side of the truck.
• Sort recyclables and deposit into correct compartments.
• Assist driver in safe vehicle operation by backing and maneuvering.
• Operate equipment to compact materials in the vehicle.
• Audit vehicle for proper equipment before leaving the branch.
• Report customer problems to the driver immediately.
• Follow safety checks and company rules on safety and operation.
